Recent surveys indicate that nine in ten learners who passed both theory and practical tests first time were taught by an instructor. A fully qualified ADI must display a green certificate on the windscreen of the car while teaching you. Trainee driving instructors are granted a licence so they can gain experience before their qualifying examination. The trainee driving instructor must display a pink certificate on the windscreen.

The Driving Standards Agency advises that it can take on average 45 hours of professional tuition and 20 hours of private practice to pass a driving test.

Based on the 45 hour figure : 1 hour per week will take you approx 11 months & 2 hours per week will take you approx 6 months.

Last big update was Viber 2.0 which introduced text messaging. This time, almost 7 months after, Viber 2.1 enhanced messaging with photos, location sharing and new sound engine. The difference is also that this time Viber released two applications at once – for iPhone and Android.

Photo Messaging
Free text messaging (SMS) was a real hit and Viber users are sending literally billions of messages. Now, with Viber 2.1, you can even send photos. You can take new photo, or use one from your existing library. Usage is simple and intuitive, as it should be on smartphones.
Please not that it is not a MMS and you can not compose text with an picture or make slideshow, but those are anyway rarely used MMS features. Much closer comparison would be sending picture by Skype.

New Sound Engine
Although the incredible sound quality was a one of the main Viber features, it usually caused a problems when talking over 3G mobile network with bad signal or over EDGE connection. Now, with new engine, the calls should be much more flawless, even in not perfect conditions.

Plans to turn an old HGV testing station in Steeton into a driving test centre have been approved.

The Driving Standards Agency (DSA) put forward the proposals for the industrial estate site at Steeton Grove, which were approved last Thursday by members of Keighley Area Planning Panel.

The agency wants to carry out demolition and refurbishment work to provide facilities to test drivers of cars, motorbikes and heavy goods vehicles.

Bradford planning officers had recommended the application be approved, but it faced opposition from Steeton-with-Eastburn Parish Council.

At the panel meeting, the parish council chairman, Councillor David Mullen, said he was concerned about the prediction that the facility could generate up to 240 vehicle movements per day.

He said this congestion could be exacerbated if the village started to be used regularly as a test route for learner drivers.

He added that the application made no mention of the need to safeguard a proposed cycle route to Steeton railway station, which would pass along the eastern boundary of the site.

Hamish Robertshaw, speaking for the DSA, pointed out that the prediction of 240 vehicle movements was a “theoretical maximum” based on a worst-case scenario.

He said the centre would have a negligible effect on the local road network, would not affect the cycle route and would generate some additional employment.

“There is an urgent need for a test centre in the Steeton and Keighley area,” he argued.

Planning officer Martyn Burke said developing the facility would mean examiners and candidates would no longer have to travel to Skipton.

His report to the panel stated that the Steeton site would enable the relocation of staff from the nearby test centre at Keighley, which closed a year ago for health and safety reasons.

The planning panel voted unanimously in favour of the proposals.
